#SpiritualSundays: When the Only Way to Go is Up…

When I tell you 2018 has been a crazy year; please believe me. Past years haven’t been all that peachy either and as a Christian you often ask God; “why Lord, when will it get better?”

Day after day, month after month; you get a glimpse of hope here and there; but then you get sidelined once again! You often wonder is it something I’m doing wrong or not doing at all? Is something from my past coming back to bite me or somehow cause this dry and weary season? Please forgive me Lord; please!

I know a lot of you can relate and feel where I’m coming from; all of us don’t get to experience the comfy, gushy life all the time. There are some of us that are taken through the wilderness, those fiery dungeons and those murky waters; and all while going through this have to have that smile on our face and pep in our step!

For some, it’s not an easy task and we lash out instead of looking up! We lash out on those closest to us and even those that have no clue as to what we are dealing with; some of us feel like it’s just too much and just end it all…

As a Christian we are taught or believe that God is our provider: “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” Psalms 121:1-8 (KJV)

I’m here to tell you that we’ve been down far too long; we can’t get any lower! The only way from here; is Up! Yes, it’s been hard and yes we have been stretched and looked over! But, the only way to go now; is Up!

You can have all the degrees there is to get and still not breaking even! You have years upon years of experience and they still want to offer you chump change! You can easily be a team lead, supervisor, manager; etc but they still won’t recognize, acknowledge or even grant you an interview!

And all while experiencing this you have people in your life that don’t believe in you! Don’t believe that you’re doing your absolute best! They come in and kick you down instead of lifting you up! They walk away as if you never meant anything to them; you stood by them in their time of need and now their nowhere to be found!

I get it; believe me I do! I am writing this from experience and heart ache but you know what gets me through? Trusting and believing in the one that created me!! Our Heavenly Father! Our Alpha and Omega!! Do you know Him?

When everyone else walked away and left me to pick up the pieces on my own; God was right there! Cheering me on and giving me the strength to endure! The struggle is very real but, I’m in it to win it!!

We at least not me; weren’t told that a Christian life would be easy; yes we have this loving Father; but, we also have the enemy who gets insanely upset when you choose a better more fulfilling life! He isn’t going to willingly let you go; you have to break free and that will mean some hard, stressful times ahead!

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV)

So, what do you choose??

#SpiritualSundays: It’s Time To Find Your Voice..Like Right Now!

Do you know how many times the word voice appears in the Bible? In the amplified version; it appears 397 times!

I will be pointing out some of the scripture that pertains to voice throughout this post.

“Through your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have heard and obeyed My voice.” Genesis 22:18 AMP

“But Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, nor will I let Israel go.” Exodus 5:2 AMP

“God heard the voice of the boy, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What troubles you, Hagar? Do not be afraid, for God has heard the voice of the boy from where he is [resting]”. Genesis 21:17 AMP

“Then the Lord spoke to you from the midst of the fire; you heard the sound of the words, but you saw no form—there was only a voice”. Deuteronomy 4:12 AMP

How do you use your voice?

Do you inspire?

Do you motivate?

Do you encourage?

Do you empower?

Or do you ridicule?

Do you tear others down?

Do you spread hate or lies?

Do you gossip?

It’s time to use your voice but for good and not evil….

Social media has given everyone the opportunity to be seen and heard. Some people use it for good and others not so good. The one thing that I like about social media is that those that choose to use their voice to spread love; have the ability too! You never know who will stumble across your message and it’s something that they need to hear! The power to change lives just by speaking!

Now isn’t that powerful! There is power in your voice; use it wisely….

#SpiritualSundays: Your Steps Are Ordered…..

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps”. Proverbs 16:9 (NIV)

You know I didn’t have anything planned to write about today; and then I read this scripture! Wow, isn’t that amazing? I know I was amazed!

Does it make you wonder how it would apply to other things as well? You are getting ready to go hang out with friends and all of a sudden; they call and cancel on you. You got this amazing interview lined up; for what you think, is the perfect job and they send you a letter the day before saying: we have decided to go with someone more qualified!

How would that make you feel? Either situation at face value may suck and put you in a funk; but, look at it differently. Read that scripture again but this time more slowly and meditate on its every word. “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps”. Proverbs 16:9

You were almost ready; on your way out the door but God had something else in mind for you! You called all your friends and family and told them about this interview, the company and all the money you would be making; but God has other plans for you!

Better is coming! The things that we hope and pray for can be our best in our minds but God can always go Higher, Bigger; and Better.

How do you feel when these type of situations take place? Do you talk about your friend to someone else? “Girl, I can’t believe she did me like that; I was all ready on my way out the door!” Dude, that man was talking about this party all week and all of a sudden; he gonna call and cancel on me? I wasn’t dressed yet but I was about to be!”

Sound familiar? After reading and meditating on that scripture; do you feel any different? Will you think differently next time? I will assure you there will be a next time! Learn the lesson now and change your reaction to it!

Have you ever heard that saying “you learn something new everyday?” Well I’m here to tell you that is a true saying!

What I learned yesterday; but didn’t catch it until this morning! Is that God is always blessing us! It may not look or feel like a blessing at that moment but as you take the time and internalize it and think on it; you will catch the revelation.

We don’t know what God was blocking when he cancels out our plans. He could be saving our lives! Saving us from some type of hurt or pain! When you look at it this way; you change your thinking, your mindset, the outcome and your reaction to the situation and just thank him!

Thank you Lord for stepping in all those situations that we think are good but you see it as bad! Thank you for that phone call or letter that may seem like a negative but you turned it into a positive!

#SpiritualSundays: Guest Blogger Angie Bee; Same Train – Different Parts of the Track

There are times in your life when you look around and see that you are in a different place than you were before.  Sometimes you even see that your current position is not where you thought you would have been.  Where are you going and who is going with you?  Are you in the same place where others around you expected you to be?  What about your peers?  Are they on the same train with you?  Let us look at the path or the “track” that you are on and see how God has served as your “train conductor” from the very beginning.

Join with me as I envision boarding a train with my family.  We all anticipate arriving at the same destination, at the same time.  We realize that we are not alone on the train as others have boarded the train with us and we anticipate a safe arrival.  Now, what happens if each of my family members settle in to different locations on the train?  My youngest is at the front of the train, my eldest daughter is at the back of the train and my husband and I are in a sleeping section of the train.  Do we all arrive at our destination at the same time, with the same experiences?

My husband and I are still newlyweds after four years of marriage.  February is the five-year anniversary of our first meeting and this is a special time for us.  When Bartee and I first met, he was not TRYING to look at me, and I wasn’t TRYING to talk to him!  God, however had other plans for us and set our trains on the same track.  We met, dated and married within six months and our true love story is now in book form.  Purchase your copy at www.LaderoPress.com and search for it on https://www.facebook.com/InTheBeginningThereWasGodMeAndYou/

Bartee was on one train, I was on another and now we are on the same train together!  Look at God!

Let’s get back to that train trip with the family.  As my eldest daughter sits on the back of the train snapping videos of the scenery, my youngest is learning about life as a conductor.  She learned how a train is maintained and asked how a person learns to drive a train.  My husband and I are enjoying the sleeper car as honeymooner’s #NoSleepRequired and we have a “Do Not Disturb” tag on the doorknob. This trip generally becomes a career introduction for my baby girl, while it is a spiritual engagement for my eldest daughter!  Same train, different parts of the track and different experiences for us all.

Do we arrive at our destination at the same time?  Yes, we do, yet we never anticipated the results of our trip.  I never dreamed to be happily married at this time in my life.  My children’s father and I divorced when our daughters were toddlers.  Years later, their stepfather became abusive and we escaped to domestic violence shelters and homelessness.  Men were not on my mind and the train that I intended to travel on was to have been testosterone free.

train tracks

God put me on a different train track.

Bartee was enjoying life as a bachelor, after divorce.  He was not attracted to women with “fuller figures”.  He proclaimed that he was “GOOD BEING SINGLE”.  Re-marriage was not in his vocabulary and my loveliness did not initially catch his eye.

guy_train_tracks

God put Bartee on a different train track.

Parent’s raise their children either with the aid of family, or alone.  Either parents apply what they learned from their parent’s, or they choose to apply a new parenting technique in an effort to show independence.  Some parents started on the track their parent’s put them on, but once their relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ manifests into their lives, their destination changes!

Look at the friends and associates that have entered our lives recently.  Have they invited you or encouraged you to go somewhere you have never been before?  Have you asked, “Lord, is this relationship track that YOU want me to travel on?”  Are you experiencing the same lessons that your peers are experiencing as you are traveling this route?  A person can experience growth when you can see where you have been, and can embrace where you are going.

The law that we should follow is the plan that God has for our life.  If you don’t yet know what that plan is, stay close to an elder that can help guide you and accompany you during this time.  Stay on the train and the track that God is conducting, and watch your life open up for new joys and experiences!  Learn to be content on the train that you are traveling on with God.  You can experience education, revelation and love on the train with God.  You can be on the same train and see different parts of the track when God is your conductor, and be at peace with it!  God’s train will not fly off the track when you are on it.  God’s train will not crash into despair during your trip.  Follow God’s destination plan for your life, get on HIS train and nothing will make you fall.

Psalm 199: 165

Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.

I am honored to serve on the Board of Directors of Sword of the Spirit Ministries Florida, Inc. This newly-formed non-profit organization empowers single parents and their children spiritually, physically and financially, and shares the love of Christ through monthly workshops.  The founder of this organization boarded the same train with me as a member of “The TOUR that Angie BEE Presents” several years ago and launched this non-profit as a result of different experiences while on her life travels.  God’s plan for her life is that she is now helping enlarge the territories of others!  Same train (ministry and outreach), different parts of the track (The TOUR that Angie BEE Presents is an evangelism troupe, Sword of the Spirit Ministries Florida, Inc. is a non-profit organization).  Same destination (serving the Lord with gladness), different experiences during the journey.  Same scripture, different interpretation and implementation.  Same God, indescribable love!  http://spfsonscreen.org/

Stay on the train that God has placed you on. It may not be the destination that your “friends” are leading you to, or it may not be the way your parent’s expected you to go but serve God and dedicate your life to Him.  Your rewards along with way will be more than you could ask for or even imagine.  Enjoy the journey!

Spiritual Sundays: When the Blended Family isn’t an Option?

What do you do? Do you sit or stand on the sidelines and just throw your hands up? Do you reach out to the absentee parent for clarity? How do you have children but won’t be active in their lives?

There is always talk about women keeping their children away from fathers that actually want to be in their kids lives; I could never understand that! Your children should be the most important person in your life; how do you hurt them by keeping them from their fathers? Okay, so he doesn’t want you anymore? Move on; get your life! Your son, your daughter needs that bond to be Strong and unbreakable; how do you deprive them of that? The lifelong effects aren’t worth it because you have issues with him! I understand every situation is different but if that man has never hurt you or your child physically; then what is the problem?

The women that have to force a relationship with the absent father; I feel you and stand with you because I can relate! We are the ones that will move heaven and earth so that our kids can have that much needed relationship with their dad but; he simply isn’t interested! He may show up when it’s convenient for him but we have to go out of our way to make it happen!

Why Lord, because our kids crave that relationship and we want to see them happy! So many times they make the attempt and set-up a time but at the last minute call or text to cancel; do you know how that breaks a child’s heart and we have to put those pieces back together? It’s unbearable sometimes you just want to shield them from it but how do you do that?

What does the Bible say about parenting?

Ephesians 6:4 (NIV)

“Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord”.

Colossians 3:21 (NIV)

“Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged”.

Psalms 127:3-5 (NIV)

“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court”.

Matthew 18:12-14 (NIV)

“What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish”

Deuteronomy 6:6-7

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up”.

This conversation piece can be handed out in so many different ways; but the truth still remains; the children are the ones that get hurt the most!

For some of us we don’t get the option of the blended family! So many men move on to other relationships and leave their children to often; wondering what They did to deserve so much heartache and pain.

Hurt children grow up to be Hurt Adults! When will this cycle end?

The Change Of A Season

Spiritual Sundays:

The way this Christian Life is set-up; everyday won’t be fresh smelling roses! You will have to deal with and experience some hardship but if you don’t grow weary and keep the Faith; all will be well!

Do you trust and believe that?

Many people will say that they do but at the first sign of trouble they will panic and that’s where fear sets in!

Aren’t you a child of the Most High? Didn’t you receive his Son as your Lord and Savior? Remember the One that died on the cross for us and forgives all our sins?

When the seasons change in our lives that shouldn’t cause fear in us; it should be a time of reflection on all the storms He has brought us through! All the destruction that was going on around us and not one hair on our head was touched! That should open your eyes to how you are protected and set apart! Shouldn’t it?

Job lived through the most cruelest ordeals but he wasn’t harmed! He may have lost a lot but his Life was spared and in the end; he was blessed beyond measure!

His friends came in pointing fingers and speaking of things that they didn’t know of and couldn’t understand trying to sway Job to their way of thinking!

How many times have people tried to speak into your life and had no clue what you were dealing with? What you were actually experiencing?

Many times when people don’t have firsthand knowledge they can make things worse but when they have been where you’re at, lived through the very ordeal that you are; then they can fully relate! And not just make speculations or accusations, or assumptions!

Luke 21:25-28 and Jeremiah 5:1 (NIV)

What storm(s) are you going through right now?

What has kicked up in your life and won’t stop attacking you?

What can’t you break-free from that is seeking to devour you?

Have you called out for help? Have you sent an S.O.S?

Take the time to reflect and answer the questions that you’ve been wrestling with and read these scriptures….While it may seem hard and difficult at the very moment; just remember help is on the way…

“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near”. Luke 21:25-28 (NIV)

“Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem, look around and consider, search through her squares. If you can find but one person who deals honestly and seeks the truth, I will forgive this city”. Jeremiah 5:1 (NIV)

#spiritualsundays: Suffering In Silence

Do you want to tell your business to just anyone? No, you would want it to be someone that you trust, admire, and/or respect. People that possess these types of qualities will listen and give you the best advice possible and/or pray with you or for you. Everyone needs someone that they can talk too that will be non-judgmental and help them to get to a positive resolution.

  • If you don't have someone to confide in; talk/pray to the one who is always there: your Heavenly Father

How many have had people turn their backs on them; when you finally decided to confide in them? How did it make you feel?

  • You can be honest I think we all have been here; just remember nobody is perfect! Not even the person looking down at you!

It can be their word usage as well! I remember a few times that I confided in someone and they constantly said "I told you so!" Made me feel like crap every single time and didn't help me in my time of need; but it did show me that I can't just talk with everyone because many people can't handle what you're going through.

  • Remember also that much of what we have to face is or could be a learning process! Is their a lesson to be learned?

Why is it that we are so quick to turn our backs on someone when they need us the most?  Now, none of us are perfect but may I suggest that we pray for others instead of being tempted to judge them

  • Praying doesn't take long and it could be so simple: Father help them, Father save them, Father forgive them.

Pray that they change their behavior and turn from their negative ways.

1. If someone is having sex and not married; pray!
2. If someone can't stop stealing; pray! 3. If someone has lost their way; pray
4. If someone is dealing with anger issues, pray!
5. If someone loves to gossip more than lending a helping hand, pray!

In one of my books I wrote that people get comfortable being in gangs, cults, bad relationships, etc because they aren't judged! They are fully accepted for who they are! These types of relationships exist because the other party can see that the individual is missing something in their life and they seek to fill that void; even though it creates more harm than good!

These people want to push their one-sided agenda and they will succeed by any means necessary.

Pray……

"

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God". 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV)
