Life and Death – Who Do You Miss? #SpiritualSundays

Written by Guest Blogger: Angie Bee

November is a truly special month for me.  It was the month that my first daughter was born in 1990.  It was the month that my mother died in 1999 and November 2012 was the month that my Lord let my husband down the road to find out about me.  November, it is a time for the leaves to change colors and fall to the ground and it is the month where we gather together as family to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast.

Let’s look at the month of December!  Now, that was the month where by grandparents wed and spent nearly 50 years together as husband and wife.  December allowed me to witness my daughters as they were baptized together at Hartford Memorial Baptist Church in Detroit Michigan and December is the month that Christians gather together to celebrate the birth of Christ.  December is also the month that we celebrated the life of my mother, and her funeral service still lives in my heart nearly 20 years later.

Life and Death.  Think about the people that entered your life this past year and consider the deaths; the new opportunities and the doors that were closed. Reflect upon the ebbs and flows in your life this year and take a moment to see how God led you and kept you through it all.  You may be considering your “New Year’s Resolution” during these last two calendar months of the year, but are you considering the path that God has for you during the New Year?

Pastor Joel Osteen preached a message today (November 26, 2017) that talked about stepping out on faith to walk a path, even if you don’t have the destination or the details of the journey.  Abraham told his wife that they were moving because:  “The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you”. –  Genesis 12:1 (NIV).  If I told some of my relatives that God told us to move, their first response to me would be “WHO GONNA PAY FOR THAT?!”

Well, during 2017 I realized that I was stepping out on faith much more than I had been doing before, and I am excited about this growth.  I see that God has enlarged my territory, he has given me more wisdom and my discernment is quite active now!  WOW!  Thank you Lord!  I have truly grown in 2017 and my “resolution” for 2018 is to keep on stepping out with faith to follow the will of God!

Back in June of 2006, I was given the opportunity to grow.  The Jericho Broadcast Network granted me a daily streaming radio show where I shared scripture, interviewed recording artists and became the very first radio show in the United States to feature Holy Hip Hop music.  The Hottest Home Hotspot WORLDWIDE earned listeners from Africa, Australia and the United Kingdom, it was syndicated over seven additional radio networks in multiple 24-hour time slots, and I was honored to earn an award from the One Accord DJ Alliance as the Best Female Radio Show host in the country.  PRAISE GOD!   That show is now ending and a through the union between my husband and I, there shall now be a new life!

Beginning in January 2018 we invite you to log on and participate in a new talk show entitled “Gettin’ Over The Hump with Angie BEE & Bartee”.  Join us on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 7:30 pm EST as we stream live on our page at www.Facebook.com/AngieBEEandBarteeProductions  This show is the brainchild of my husband Bartee and I am excited to be by his side as we give life to this new outlet!  Our goal is to share the goodness of the Lord and offer encouragement to others as they attend to “get over the hump!”

The New Living Translation of Proverbs 18:21 says “The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences”.  Death will occur.  Doors will close and opportunities will end and finalize.  We miss those that have died, but we must retain what we learned from them and pass that information along to the next generation.  Just keep your eyes on God, take His hand and walk the path He has placed on you.  I love to talk about the goodness of the Lord and through this new talk show I’ll be ready to eat the fruit He has for me in 2018 and beyond.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and we will catch you on “Hump Day”!

#SpiritualSundays will be back January 2018..

I Am Not A Pageant Winner; But God Still Made Me A Queen: #SpiritualSundays

I Am Not A Pageant Winner;

But God Still Made Me A Queen

By Evangelist Angie BEE “Da Queen Bee”

Edited by the Anointed Loretha Simon

A couple of months ago my husband and I found ourselves surrounded by intelligent, talented and extremely beautiful women.  My husband is SUCH a gentleman that his expression never changed, his head never turned and his soulful eyes remained gazed upon me; however, I have to admit that I felt a bit small that day.  I mean, these women had perfectly coiffed and colored hair, their makeup was PERFECT along with their teeth and their outfits were enhanced by sashes.  Some of them even wore crowns on their heads!

For the second year in a row my husband was invited to participate in the Ms. and Mrs. Florida United States Pageant, which occurred in Volusia County, Florida and I was there to witness the crowning of a queen.

What makes a queen these days?  Baby Charlotte was born into a royal family but she wasn’t born a queen.  I think her official title is “Her Royal Highness, Princess Charlotte”.  I heard the news media refer to her brother as the “Heir” and she as the “Spare”.  I don’t know that I would want to be referred to as a “Spare”… but in England, she was born into prestige and wealth, so maybe that makes up for it.

The beauty pageant contestants (referred to as Delegates) are all competing to be The Queen.  It’s actually quite an impressive competition!  A showcase of wonderful women who all fit into a list of qualifications; seeking an opportunity to represent their county, city, state and the platform that is most dear to them.  We heard about cancer awareness and domestic violence during their speeches; we learned about the families that raised them and we learned about their goals.  Pageantry certainly draws quite an eclectic mix of wonders to its doors!

Let me tell you about Dr. Veronica Duncan Walters from Tampa, Florida (Dr. V).  My husband Bartee and I met her during the 2014 pageant.  When Pageant Director Pam Bolter invited my husband Bartee to be a judge, all I could think of was half naked, 6-foot tall lovelies parading in front of my hubby, blowing him cleavage-anchored kisses in a bid to secure his vote.  Bartee and I had only been married for 8 months at that time and I wasn’t about to let temptation enter our honeymoon, so I asked Pam if I could tag along… with my shot-gun in my purse (lol).  She agreed to put up with me, and I will be forever grateful for attending.

I was seated strategically behind the judges so I could witness it all.  I had my trusty camera with me and snapped a few pictures.  Several delegates bounced into the room and wowed the judges  but when Dr. V entered the room, the atmosphere changed!  The illumination that radiated off her shoulders was indescribable!  The confidence, the joy, the ease upon her face even made ME sit up a bit straighter!  Out of the dozen or so delegates that faced the judges that day, she was the only one my husband directed a question to… and she NAILED her answer.  On this particular day she was a Queen, you could tell she was a Queen and that she had been a Queen for some time.

Now, Dr. Veronica didn’t have the figure of a beauty pageant contestant.  By her own admission, she wore a size 16 in a room full of “size 2” women.  If there were 12 delegates competing that day, 10 of them were Caucasian and she was the lone African American.  Her formal gown appeared to have come from a department store, not the boutiques where the others obviously purchased their gowns. Her makeup (although it looked good to me) wasn’t expertly applied with highlights and false lashes and glitter and gloss.  Oh, don’t get me wrong… she is a STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL woman, but on that day she just didn’t look like a pageant girl.  She competed in the “Mrs.” category and you could tell that she wasn’t in it for prestige.  She was competing for another reason and I wondered to myself if she was searching for the title of “Queen”.  Hmmmmm

When I dedicated my life to Christ many years ago, I didn’t realize that dedication came with a price and a title.  The price that I paid was to live in darkness for a while. With the hand of God upon my life,

He allowed me to survive THREE suicide attempts as the result of Major Depressive Disorder while raising my daughters in a domestically violent household.  My God gave me the strength to leave an abusive husband; and

  • Gifted me with a global radio show – we celebrated  our tenth year on the air last summer.
  • Directed me to launch an outreach TOUR five years ago which now includes a Holy Hip Hop concert and SIX testimonial workshops!
  • Led me to write my first book detailing the depression and final suicide attempt and a second book detailing my 200 pound weight loss!
  • Gifted me with a global TV show and last but not least, just after my youngest left home to attend college…
  • God blessed me to marry the man that calls me his “rib”.

Bartee and I met in February 2013, he proposed in May 2013 and we married in August 2013.  LOOK AT GOD!  The price for my life then was a temporary bout with darkness that I still live with everyday… but the title that the Lord graced me with was QUEEN.  He named me “Da Queen Bee” and I buzz about as a round, yellow, busy-little-bumble bee for Christ.  People ask me why “they” call me “Da Queen Bee” and I reply: “That’s the name that God gave me”.

What makes a queen these days?  How can YOU be granted the title of QUEEN?  The baby Princess will be fully grown one day and she may own that title, or it’s possible she will always be called the “Spare”.  Dr. Veronica won a crown and a title on that April day in 2014.  She was crowned “Ms. Inspirational United States” and I promise you that her crown was bigger and more glamorous than the other Ms. and Mrs. Queens that were also crowned that day!

My Lord and Savior died on the cross for me many years ago, and even though I didn’t know it then, when I dedicated my life to serve Him I became a Queen.

After the 2014 pageant ended, I became friends with Dr. Veronica Duncan Walters.  She has made appearances during our TOUR workshops, sharing her testimony of motherhood and her path to the crown.  I also came to find out she is the founder and PASTOR of a church in Largo, Florida (The ACTS Church International) and her congregation encouraged her and drilled her on her pageant entry skills!  When I interviewed her for my TV show, it was just following her SECOND pageant where she won several additional titles!

How does a Pastor decide to compete in a beauty pageant?  The Lord led her to it!  She is a Queen in His Kingdom.  Her official appearances and the doors that were opened to her allowed her to be Inspirational… to be a witness to his Love and Glory.

What makes a Queen these days? Faith, dedication, family support and in some cases – Obedience to the Voice of God

My husband, Bartee sang at the pageant last year while also serving as a judge, and this year he brought his karaoke show for the delegates to enjoy.  They had a great time singing and dancing together after dinner on the night before the pageant.    Bartee sang for the audience again during the pageant, it was just before the Queen was announced and I’m excited to say that pageant founder Pam Bolter invited us BOTH to return this year to serve as judges!

In 2015 the delegates came from Florida AND Georgia and there was more diversity among the ladies.  There were some shorter ladies and some curvier ladies… and I didn’t feel so small standing among them.  I saw some familiar faces from last year and I’m following several of them on Facebook.  They are representing their platforms and fulfilling their goals with elegance.  I’ve even been watching The GOOD LIFE Channel 45 in Orlando and one of the show hosts announced that she was a Florida pageant Queen over 40 years ago!  WOW!  Royalty!  Kings and Queens among us!  If we claimed our Kingdom crowns what could we accomplish in our lives?  What could we accomplish for others?  What kind of wives would be?

Consider this:  How could men honor and love their wives if they acted like Kings and treated their wives like Queens?  ROYALTY!  Recording artist Mali Music sings those lyrics in his song… ROYALTY!  “Lift your head, come back home… we are a chosen Priesthood of Royal people…ROYALTY”.

Thank you Jesus!

Have I ever thought about competing in a pageant?  No; not since I competed with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Xi Chapter, way back in college.  Have I ever dreamed about marrying into a royal family?  Not really.  Do I feel like I am a Queen just because I have an award-winning radio show or lead an award-winning ministry workshop?

Nope.  I was BORN into royalty, just like YOU were.  Our Father God is the King of ALL Kings and we are his children, so you must accept that Jesus died for your sins and “straightened” your crown!  Glide into a room with your head held high!  Treat others as you would like to be treated and read the scriptures to remind you of what you should already know!  Check out my Facebook post from May 21, 2015:

Scripture and love surrounded me even when I didn’t appreciate the value of it!

When I graduated from high school in 1983, my yearbook proclaimed me as the

“Class Peacemaker”

Today, God revealed to me that I am certainly His child and He put it in print, even way back then. What has God written about YOU? Think about it!

Thank you Lord!

Matthew 5:9

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Alls my life I has to fight, nigga

Hard times like God

Bad trips like: “God!”

Nazareth, I’m f—ed up

Homie you f—ed up

But if God got us then we gon’ be alright

Nigga, we gon’ be alright

Nigga, we gon’ be alright

We gon’ be alright

Do you hear me, do you feel me? We gon’ be alright

– By Kendrick Lamar

Why would I begin an inspirational message with the foul-mouth language of a hip hop recording artist? I don’t think other evangelists would begin a message with a rap song and I bet my beloved Pastor would be disappointed to read the opening of this article, but there is a message in this madness so keep on reading.

Rapper Kendrick Lamar has won:

– a Grammy

– A BET Award

– an MTV Award

– countless global fans and a

– Soul Train Music Award

There are young adults and hip hop fans who can quote Lamar’s lyrics faster than they can spell their names.  I know this song is laced with profanity and reflections of trials and troubles from both film and reality, but I cling to the shining light that beamed from the midst of this song:

But if God got us then we gon’ be alright!

How can you be encouraged when you are sick or injured or facing a trial?  Is it really feasible to believe that a person can “look to the heavens from which cometh my health and strength” when they are dealing with a broken bone or an impending surgical procedure?  Hmmm…

1 Corinthians 6:19 tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit; a place where God can dwell.  Our bodies are considered houses!  Many of us will put on makeup or purchase a new suit before dealing with pain or dysfunction within our bodies.  Does that new eye makeup cover up the fact that you are squinting when you read?  Do those new running shoes cover the foot fungus that you have ignored for months?  Hmmm…

Now, what if your home has a foundation issue that resulted in cracks throughout the walls?  Are there shingles missing from your roof? Do you slap a coat of paint on the walls to cover the cracks or do you work to restore the foundation?  If your home is the place where you dwell, would you take care of your home?  If your body is a home where God dwells, then it is time to take care of it!

=================

It’s not a valley of sickness, it is a valley of restoration! When we get a bad medical report, just wait for doors to open.  God wouldn’t have led you to this situation if He didn’t have a new direction for you into a valley of victory.  Your valleys are leading you to your victories! Joel Osteen

As I write this article, I am lying on my couch with my laptop on my lap and my foot propped up on a pillow.  Last week, I had bunion surgery and my foot still holds the stitches.  During my first follow-up to the surgeon, she revealed to me that I had popped one of my stitches and my foot was red; leading me to 14 days of antibiotics.  My surgery was on Monday and my first follow-up was on Wednesday.  How did all this happen during the course of TWO DAYS?!  I didn’t respect my temple.  The pain meds were working, my walker was within arms reach and I felt like I didn’t want to be a burden to my family so I hobbled around a bit.

I slapped some paint on my cracks and ended up doing more harm to my temple!  I ain’t doing that no more.  My foot is propped up, the ice pack is in place and I have a remote control in my hand!  Hmmph!

==================

God will certainly speak to you whether you want to hear from Him or not.  Kendrick Lamar SCREAMS the lyrics in his song to tell audiences “But if God got us then we gon’ be alright” and some of us don’t hear that inspirational word, because we don’t listen to rap music.  God used Lamar to deliver that word, and we don’t like the cussing, so we don’t listen to the song.

While I was writing this article, I had the TV on my favorite channel with Joyce Meyer on mute.  Why would I put a message from God on mute?  Because, I was trying to write this article (lol).  Well, I looked up from my laptop and saw Joyce make a funny face, and I turned up the volume on my TV just in time to hear her speak these words from God:

“If we just keep asking for miracles, God will keep giving them to us; but if we ask God for WISDOM… we can avoid the pitfalls that require a miracle to climb out of”.Joyce Meyer

Now, I realize that waking up from any surgical procedure is a miracle.  My blessed Mother-in-Law used to say “They put you so far down under in sleep that you don’t even know that you’re in the world!” I don’t take for granted that any surgery is routine and I give God ALL the praise for the miracle of healing.

BUT – –

Along with that miracle, a person needs wisdom.  I should have rested following my foot surgery and if I had used wisdom, I would not have injured my foot or required antibiotics.  If I had used wisdom and allowed my family to care for me during that time, I would not have strained myself trying to sit up… and I would not have gotten a hernia.  Yep, you read it right!  I have an estimated 4 inch tear in my abdomen and now I need ANOTHER surgery to repair it.  Wisdom.  I asked for a miracle, but lacked the wisdom once I received that miracle and now I’m quoting Kendrick Lemar lyrics.

We gon’ be alright!

Do you hear me, do you feel me? We gon’ be alright!

My body IS a temple of the Lord and because of this knowledge, I wrote a book entitled “The Evolution of Da Queen Bee”.  This book details my 200 pound weight loss and the miracle of healing from disease through Gastric Bypass surgery.  #EvolutionOfDaQueenBee

My body IS a temple of the Lord and because of this understanding, I wrote a book entitled “Last Week…I Wanted To Die” which detailed the mental illness that led me to three suicide attempts.   #LastWeekIwantedToDie

I chose to no longer limp around in pain from my foot and have my temple restored. How can I preach to others of the goodness of a healing God when my toe hurts too much to stand before His people?!  I didn’t just slap some paint on the cracks, I restored my foundation.  My foot is HEALED, in the name of Jesus!

God didn’t heal me from

– Type 2 diabetes

– High Blood Pressure

– Sleep Apnea

– Poor circulation

– GERD

– PTSD and

– suicidal major depression in order to let me fall down from a bunion!  God allowed me to learn my lesson and gain wisdom with this hernia, so now I am allowing my entire body the opportunity to rest. Thank you Lord!  Everyone marvels over the Proverbs 31 woman, but take a look at the Proverbs 3:13 woman!!!  Now THAT’S who I want to grow up and be like!

#Jesus

Lord, I thank you for the miracles you have allowed me to see, to speak and to be a part of.  Thank you for not only restoring my body but elevating my mind with wisdom.  Father God, I love you and I strive to be obedient, and I thank you for sending skilled physicians and caregivers that are my family and friends.  Use me Lord!  My temple is yours to speak to others and to lead them to you.  Thank you for Kendrick Lemar.  Thank you for Joyce Meyer, Kenneth Copeland, Joseph Prince and Joel Osteen.  Thank you for #TheTOURthatAngieBEEpresents and for the clients that wait on Angie BEE Productions to reopen while I heal.  Lord, I thank you for loving me.

In Jesus name…

Amen
