Kingdom Gals: Can You Deny Yourself? Tamara McCarthy

It’s official; we made it through the 1st 2 weeks of the New Year! I don’t know about you; but, 2018 is already feeling like a AWESOME YEAR! Big things are going to happen this year; do you believe it?

Come on now; you have to feel all this goodness floating around in the atmosphere. Just reach out and grab hold of it……

Let me let you in on a little secret; in order to grasp all the goodness; you have to deny access to the bad stuff! Yep, you heard me right; get rid of all that old smelly stuff you been holding on to. Do I really have to spell it out for you? One-sided relationships, negative thinking, sinful behavior; ungodly speech, destructive motives, etc.

How do you expect to find favor and gain access to a better life when you aren’t willing to give up some stuff? You want to lose weight; but you won’t stop eating the foods that are putting on the pounds; and causing strife in your body? You want to gain better employment but you won’t apply your education; your knowledge? You want people to respect you; but you don’t respect yourself?

This is the month; the time of the year were so many are starting and implementing their new years resolutions. It’s time to get in where you can fit it in! Detox your mind, your body, your thoughts, your habits, your spirit and your soul. It’s time to DENY YOURSELF…..”Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” Matthew 16:24 (NKJV)

So again I say and I ask you the question: Can You Deny Yourself? Can you let go of what no longer serves you?

Join me as I step out of the boat and walk out into the deep raging waters; but remember to always keep your eyes on HIM….

Things to Remember:

  1. The Battle can’t be WON without proper execution and strategy!
  2. Allow others to hold you ACCOUNTABLE..
  3. Pray it out; HE is always Listening…

Spiritual Sundays: Frameworks for Success…Guest Blogger Tarsha Campbell

We have officially made it through the 1st week of the new year!! Who is ready for a successful year? Who can use some tips in being successful? I know I can! Tarsha Campbell shares some very insightful tips.

In order for a house to stand it must have a solid framing system in place before the walls and the other parts of the house are installed. Psalms 127:1 says, “Expect the Lord build the house they labour in vain that build it.” God, through his written word and progressive word (prophesy, dreams, visions, words of wisdom, etc.), has given us different frameworks to help us build a successful life. One such framework is found in Joshua 1:8:

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein; for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous and then thou shalt have good success.

Here’s the framework for success found in this scripture:

1. Don’t let the word depart out of your mouth (speak, eat, digest it)

2. Meditate on it day and night (be constantly mindful of it)

3. Observe to do all that is written (Seek to do all it says, live it)

Here’s another example of a framework in action. This is the framework given to me by way of a proceeding word from the Holy Spirit. It’s regarding my health and maintaining a healthy body weight.

4. Exercise regularly (cardio and resistance training)

5. Limit your intake of fatty foods and sugars (eat healthy)

6. Stop eating when you are full

7. Avoid emotional eating

8. Maintain a healthy a digestive system (regular colon cleanings)

9. Take your vitamins

10. Drink plenty of water

As I’m diligent to live within the parameters of this framework I’ve been able to reach my goal of maintaining a healthy body and weight for over 40 years. This goes to show you frameworks work when you work them! What are some frameworks you can employ in your life to reach specific goals you are desiring to achieve?

Your Next Step Coaching Minute:

To construct winning frameworks in your life I encourage you to spend time in God’s presence and write out different frameworks for success revealed to you for the specified areas listed below:

• Your health

• Your finances

• Your relationships

• Your business and/or ministry

Once that’s completed, practice what’s been revealed to you until it becomes a habit and you gain the mastery. Much success!

2017 Has Taught Me….

With each new year that comes and goes; I believe it’s necessary to have reflection. Reflection of how to go forward, what you learned from the previous year and what you can do to be a better person.

How else do we expect to grow and change our outlook if we don’t do a self-evaluation?You see it can’t always be about someone else! What did you do? What didn’t you do?

You see for me I didn’t speak up enough; I just allowed things to play out as they may. Could I have said something? Yes, but many times I chose not too. I for one like my peace and keeping my sanity in check. What was it for you? What did you let slide; or did you speak your mind? How far did it get you?

I have never been a fan of new year’s resolutions; why? Because life always happens and by February all those resolutions are out the door! But one thing that I have incorporated over the years is looking at how my year went and what I could change going forward.

In 2017, I can honestly say I learned lots about me and people around me.

#1. I learned that I wasn’t made to fit in but I was created to stand out.

This one right here was a biggie for me! You see people will always try to control you if you let them! They want you to play by their rules, be who they want you to be; and I learned that has never and will never be me. God has uniquely made you for a special purpose; don’t allow people who don’t know how to handle that; derail you!!

#2. That if you want to know who is really in your corner; break something!

Wow, this was a real challenge for me that I didn’t even sign up for! But hey, I made it through!!

Being a single mom with a broken ankle-foot; was absolutely no fun! That is a story in itself! I have never been one to have a large number of friends; weirdly, I like it that way.  But I really found out during this challenge that the small number I thought I had was just a mirage! Sisterhood is something I have always enjoyed writing about because it is being flung around like an old high school jersey.  When will women really take a stand and unite for the greater good? Friendship seems like a thing of the past; that has been replaced for networking and somebody’s next come up! How far can you get me up the ladder? Who are you connected to; that I can connect with? Is that what we have been reduced to? It’s time to change that circle; maybe expand it out a little bit….

#3. That NO MATTER WHAT GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL.…..

Look you don’t have to believe it; or in HIM. But when I tell you 2017 has been thus far one of the most challenging years for ME. My life could’ve gone so many different ways with the obstacles, challenges, trials and tribulations that came my way; BUT GOD, kept me through every last one! When people walked away; HE still had my bad! When people told me no; HE said YES!

So you see; this is just a couple of the things that 2017 has taught me and I am so very excited to still be here and I am eagerly awaiting  to see what 2018 has in store! What about you?

What has 2017 taught you?

What have you learned?

And what will you change going forward?

New Year…Just The Beginning_________2018

With each new year, comes new resolutions and goals; but what does God have nestled away for you to experience in the year 2018? People are always making predictions of what we can expect; but God is the only one that can shower you with blessings and favor! That is my prayer for you in this upcoming year and beyond! Is that God, bless you and show you as well as those around you with endless favor; grace and mercy!

#SpiritualSundays Let Me Show You The Ways: Guest Blogger Ms Angie Bee

How many different ways can you show love to someone?  Well, during the holiday season we show love by giving lavish gifts, or inviting others over for a fabulous meal.  There are others that give money or make travel plans, and others simply enjoy time off “work”.

I get excited when I hear that people go through transitions during holiday seasons.  Babies are born, folks get engaged or married and others leave us to go live in heaven.  My mom moved to heaven on the Monday after Thanksgiving in 1999 and I love her for that…

Now, let us talk about hospitality during the holiday season.  Now THAT can be a challenge for some families!  Not only do you have to cook for the multitudes, but in some cases you need to clean up and decorate your guest room to accommodate out of town guests.  Money needs to be spent, arrangements need to be made and grumbling can be heard. “Why do I have to give up my room to Uncle Charlie?” “It’s too hot to sleep on the porch!”  “Your flight arrives at WHAT time?!”  The complaints can be heard far and wide!

This may be a stretch for some of you but what about those women that give up their babies to another family during the holidays?  That must be an incredible feeling… to receive a new member of your family from a “perfect stranger”?  WOW!  What an amazing gift of love!  I know that my eldest daughter was born a week before Thanksgiving in 1990 and MAN we had a lot to be grateful for that year!  WOW!

I love God, and I really mean what I say.  He gave us an entire book of love and called it The Bible.  It’s filled with instructions for our lives to make our time on Earth easier to bear.  God’s book is filled with true love stories – like the story that tells us that he sent His ONLY son to be born, to live and to die for US!  I wouldn’t give ANY of my children to ANYONE else for ANY REASON!  I mean, I appreciate my fellow man but YOU CAN’T HAVE MY CHILDREN!  Hmmph   God loved us more than I can imagine, and He sent His only son for us.  That’s love.

God also taught us how to show love to others!  His word teaches us in

1 Peter 4:9-10 ESV  – Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace:

Hebrews 13:2 ESV – Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

1 Corinthians 13:8 ESV – Love never ends…

Love and Hospitality go hand-in-hand during the holidays.  Don’t forget that friend or neighbor that showed you love in the past?  They could have been an Angel!  Now, go be an Angel to someone else this holiday season and show them your hospitality.  Be grateful for your life, your health, your family and for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that was born, lived, died and was resurrected JUST FOR YOU!

Kingdom Gals: Faith

Faith: Written by Latoya Olivia Guion

The Holy Ghost visited me concerning this word.  It’s only one word, small yet powerful and profound.  Unfortunately us as believers don’t use this word as much as we should.

For whatever reason we think it applies to only certain situations and circumstances. When in fact it should be used for any trial or tribulation you are faced with.

We as believers are faced with many challenges, some challenges we don’t even recognize to be actual challenges.

Health, wellness, eating properly, (3rd John 1:2) letting God choose our Adam, bringing that dream or idea to fruition.

Faith should be used in our home with our children, as they are faced with a mountain of obstacles..faith should be used with our husbands, and friends.

Faith is needed in every situation  that we face. Faith is just activating your belief in what God has told you about your life, even without seeing it.  Walking in confidence and assurance that he will deliver on his promises!!

Believing what he tells you in his Word. So you might be wondering what exactly did God speak to me about?  Well he woke me up a few weeks ago with Ephesians 6:10-17.

This chapter in Ephesians speaks of putting on the whole Armor of God. But what was so profound to me was the verse that talks about faith, The SHIELD OF FAITH to be exact.

Ephesians 6: 16. God considers The SHIELD OF FAITH to be extremely important.  As a matter of fact he says in the scripture above all of the other Armor, having the SHIELD OF FAITH!

I literally had to activate my SHIELD OF FAITH this week with my 15-year-old daughter and her school teacher, who has been bullying her and intimidating her since the first week of school.

It started with attacking her character as a person, this teacher kept trying to create a person that doesn’t exist, to feed her own insecurities about my black daughter.

It started with sending her home with a conduct grade that was contrary to who she is, and who her other teachers and coaches knows she is.

We sat down with the principal on Monday, he immediately recognized that something was wrong, as my daughter began to tell him the stories of how she is singled out in class for no reason, and for simply trying to do her work properly in a group.

We left the office knowing that he would be speaking to this particular teacher, and he gave my daughter the assurance that she could always come to him if she had any more problems. The next day this teacher attacked my daughter verbally, entered her personal space, threatened to kick her out of class simply because she wanted to do her assignment on a whiteboard which is the proper procedure, so her peers could actually see what she was doing and understand. My daughter immediately left the classroom went to the principal in tears. Now me as her mother when I heard this, was infuriated.

I had emotions that I cannot even explain! Emotions of feeling like I had no control because my daughter was in a situation of racial injustice in her classroom. This led me to get on my knees and pray! I had to pray because I had an actual meeting I had to go to and sit with this teacher and look her in the face, later on that day.  I knew I could not go into this meeting feeling the way that I did.

So I called on my God for help!  I placed my daughter’s picture in my Bible a few weeks ago, not knowing what scripture I had placed it by. Once I finished praying and asking God for help, I asked him to lead me to a scripture, I decided to open the Bible up where my daughters picture was, and low and behold Psalm 64 was there, talking about how the enemy plots and spits arrows of lies from their tongues, but how God will shoot arrows back at the enemy making them confused and stopping their attacks!

I advise you read Psalm 64.  When I read this, my Faith was activated, I knew that he was letting me know that he had my daughter and he had me!  I immediately had a peace and a calm, and I walked into that room and said everything I needed to say. Needless to say everybody in the room including the counselor and the principal knew what kind of people we were (my daughter and I)and who this teacher is.

I watched Psalm 64 play out in this meeting, Literally!! The Principal spoke very highly of my daughter and he’s only met her twice! See when the devil tried to paint an evil picture, me activating the Shield of Faith blocked it!

When the  enemy comes for you at every side, when he attacks your head,  your feet your heart, and your mind, have the SHIELD OF FAITH! Meaning no matter what you feel, no matter what you think, no matter the lie the enemy Creates, no matter what the situation or the circumstance, if you Activate your SHIELD OF FAITH, you are Shielded from the fiery darts, schemes, and treachery of the enemy!

So if the enemy tells you are not good enough? Raise your SHIELD OF FAITH! If the enemy tells you, your dreams are to big? Raise your SHIELD OF FAITH!

If the enemy tells you, you won’t be Healed, can’t write that book, have that Job, be debt free? Raise your SHIELD OF FAITH! Pretty much no matter how bad it looks, feels or seems, it’s a lie! Raise and Activate your SHIELD OF FAITH!  Because when you do, you activate a power like none other in existence!

A power that can’t be suppressed or conformed!  A power that is undeniable…you activate God himself!  So now….Whose report will you believe?  Well I believe the report of the Lord….and so should you!

Kingdom Gals: The Journey to Self-Confidence

Guest Blogger: Eniola Olaosebikan

Life is a journey, so is our self-confidence. It is a process that kicks off the moment we recognize the difference between right and wrong; and also the moment we become aware enough to compare our lives with that of others. It is termed a process because of its progressive nature. As a result, for every new phase of our lives, we will need an increase in confidence.

Our inability to build up confidence per time results into low self-esteem; all because we insist on using the confidence of a previous phase to handle a brand new, and at that- higher phase. This in a way can be likened to a teenager insisting on sleeping on his cot, despite his grown age. To dig deeper into self-confidence as a journey rather than just a phase in our lives or something we possess once and for all, it will be good to start with knowing what self-confidence is.

Self-confidence refers to the way we view or see ourselves. It is what we see to be the reflection of us when we look or think about ourselves: It is our inner self reflected back to our outer self.It is something we must learn and adapt to basically on our own.

In as much as factors and people may sometimes contribute to it, the bulk of the work lies on us. That is why it is called self-confidence and not people-confidence. It has to come from a place on the inside.

If self-confidence is our basic duty to carry out, how then do we generate it?

1. Spending time with God

How beautiful is it when the maker of a thing tells the product about itself? Wonderful, isn’t it? Who else can tell it better than the maker itself; the one who foresaw it, saw how good it would be and decided to create it based on the goodness formed in his heart?

The strongest form of confidence is the one we gain from the Lord- either through His Word spoken to us or the one written to us. Spending time with God as a Christian is necessary for a healthy self-worth and a great inner strength.

Spending time with God is like an exchange.  God gives us more of Himself even as He takes away (through processes) our inadequacies. The more time we spend with God, the more we get to know and discover ourselves. God exposes who we are to us (both who we are at the moment, and versions of who we were originally created to be) when we spend time in His Presence. Spending time with Him aligns us to His intent for us upon creation.

A look at the life of David, spending time with God gave him the inner strength to defeat all that needed to be defeated in his lifetime. It gave him the strength to kill bears and lions with his bare hands, and also imparted in him the knowledge to slay a man like Goliath who was not only higher than him in height, but also in battlefield experiences. Come to think of it, David was only a little boy when he defeated Goliath, how did He come about such confidence and boldness even as a little child? It was sure through spending time with God and God revealing who He really is to him on the inside, a factor that reflected not only in the way he saw himself but also the way he saw situations and related to people. His brothers, even the king at the time- Saul tried to dissuade him, but because of what He knew about God and himself, he knew he was well able and it was never about his stature or age. Self-confidence gained through spending time with God will make us defeat giants within and without.

Our self-confidence is never about what people think of us, but what we think of ourselves and the eyes through which we see ourselves. When we see ourselves through God’s eyes, we see ourselves right.

2. Spending time with ourselves

Spending time with ourselves enables us to know ourselves in possible details and the areas in which we need help/change. It helps us pay utmost attention to ourselves. Spending time with ourselves places the focus on us for better reasons; we are able to decipher who we really are away from the crowd.

When we spend time alone, we gain insights into the opinions we have of ourselves; such opinions we can easily divide into good or bad and therefore decide the ones which stays and the ones which goes.

Quite a number of people know nothing about themselves, and so, talk cheaply about themselves because they’ve not taken enough time to think about themselves and mirror who they truly are.

They simply absorb other people’s opinions (both negative and positive) about them without internally challenging them to see if that is really who they are.

Spending time with ourselves is simply paying attention to ourselves, especially our inner yearnings, opinions, desires and needs per time. It enables us to be sensitive to ourselves and our needs.

Spending time with ourselves also makes us know what soothes us and what doesn’t. It makes us fight our battles in our own skin and not someone else’. This can be seen in the life of David when Saul- the king offered him his armor. David was able to reject the armor because he knew himself duly and what he could work in.

In the end, knowing ourselves will save us from a lot of pain, shame and abuse.

3. Cultivating a reading culture

Reading opens us up and adds wisdom to us provided the right books are read.  It widens our views about life. Reading makes us grow in areas we should grow and as a result, prevents us from making mistakes that would have been made. With reading, we really don’t have to get to our old age before we begin to ooze out wisdom and act based on it.

Reading is a seed sown that grows up as a giant tree- a tree of wisdom. It literarily places a ladder at our feet; making us see wider and better. It gives us a better view of life- a much wider view and it sharpens our knowledge of good and bad. It also helps us to efficiently separate needs from wants without comparing our lives to others to determine what is needful.

Reading takes us through time and brings us wisdom. It deposits into our present the wisdom we would have gained in our old age through experience. It gives us an edge of time and the opportunity to maximize it. Besides, knowledge is the vehicle through which we travel through time to gain wisdom. Reading great books provides such experience.

4. Developing our skills.

There’s such confidence that comes out of knowing one’s value. When we know who we are and what we as individuals can offer, we will not be easily threatened (if at all we will be) by other people- especially their successes. The better we get at our skill, the more confident we become. Honing our skills and using them right contributes to our self-worth in the long run.

Conclusively, to see ourselves right, we have to be committed to the life we live. We have to be intentional to live our lives the way God intended and expects. We don’t have to be perfect to live in confidence, we only have to be receptive to God’s Word and committed to spending time with Him; and also pay attention to ourselves (especially our innermost self), and cultivate a learning culture such that will give us needed wisdom per time and help hone our skills to such level where only the best version of ourselves stares at us in front of the mirror per time. We also have to know that self-confidence is a continuous journey, never a phase. Just like our apps and gadgets, we have to keep updating it per time lest it goes out of ‘fashion’ and we find ourselves lacking in confidence once again. Different level of confidence is needed for different phases, and as a matter of fact, the higher the phase, the higher the confidence needed and required. So, it’ll be helpful to see ourselves as a constant work in progress and be willing to do all we can to become a finished work.

P.S: Only death makes us a finished work, so, till we die, we keep striving to keep ourselves upgraded!

The Change Of A Season

Spiritual Sundays:

The way this Christian Life is set-up; everyday won’t be fresh smelling roses! You will have to deal with and experience some hardship but if you don’t grow weary and keep the Faith; all will be well!

Do you trust and believe that?

Many people will say that they do but at the first sign of trouble they will panic and that’s where fear sets in!

Aren’t you a child of the Most High? Didn’t you receive his Son as your Lord and Savior? Remember the One that died on the cross for us and forgives all our sins?

When the seasons change in our lives that shouldn’t cause fear in us; it should be a time of reflection on all the storms He has brought us through! All the destruction that was going on around us and not one hair on our head was touched! That should open your eyes to how you are protected and set apart! Shouldn’t it?

Job lived through the most cruelest ordeals but he wasn’t harmed! He may have lost a lot but his Life was spared and in the end; he was blessed beyond measure!

His friends came in pointing fingers and speaking of things that they didn’t know of and couldn’t understand trying to sway Job to their way of thinking!

How many times have people tried to speak into your life and had no clue what you were dealing with? What you were actually experiencing?

Many times when people don’t have firsthand knowledge they can make things worse but when they have been where you’re at, lived through the very ordeal that you are; then they can fully relate! And not just make speculations or accusations, or assumptions!

Luke 21:25-28 and Jeremiah 5:1 (NIV)

What storm(s) are you going through right now?

What has kicked up in your life and won’t stop attacking you?

What can’t you break-free from that is seeking to devour you?

Have you called out for help? Have you sent an S.O.S?

Take the time to reflect and answer the questions that you’ve been wrestling with and read these scriptures….While it may seem hard and difficult at the very moment; just remember help is on the way…

“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near”. Luke 21:25-28 (NIV)

“Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem, look around and consider, search through her squares. If you can find but one person who deals honestly and seeks the truth, I will forgive this city”. Jeremiah 5:1 (NIV)

Kingdom Gals: Teach Me How to Pray….

There is a difference in how you pray as a young girl versus a Grown Woman!

Praying for a middle school crush versus your godly husband is going to be a little more spirit led than “please let him like me” or “I hope he asks me to the dance”

It may start out like this: “Heavenly Father, the husband you have for me has to know how to cover me physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually! He won’t allow the enemy to infiltrate our camp, covenant, household, finances, children, bedroom, etc.” Do you see the difference? Your prayer life should upgrade as you grow!

We aren’t to be selfish when we pray! We should pray for those around us as well; family, friends, co-workers, employees, employers, government entities, homeless, widows, single parents, father/motherless children, your enemies, racism, equality; etc.

We all should be praying for forgiveness every time we pray; why? Because we are all sinners! “Well then, should we conclude that we Jews are better than others? No, not at all, for we have already shown that all people, whether Jews or Gentiles are under the power of sin”. Romans 3:9 (NLT)

So as you see not anyone of us are perfect; seek forgiveness!

But the problem with this is that many don’t want to face the fact that they are wrong! How do you grow if you you keep hiding behind the mask?

You’re sleeping with married men; that’s adultery, ask/pray for forgiveness! You talk about another woman behind her back; that’s gossip, ask/pray for forgiveness! You’re giving up for body, mind, soul and spirit to a man and there is no ring on your finger, you haven’t walked down the aisle and said I do; that’s sexual immorality, fornication; ask/pray for forgiveness!

Now being that none of us are perfect there is always going to be those that say “well how can you tell someone what to do? Who do you think you are? You are probably doing the same thing; who are you to judge? And my response is I have done the very things I write about! I’m not perfect but I have changed! I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and it was a priority of mine to rid and remove anything and anyone that welcomed or encouraged negative behavior!

I had to ask and pray for forgiveness and also repent! While Jesus comes to save us and show us the right way to live we also have to do our part!

You can’t claim to be a Christian and still be sleeping around! You can’t claim to be a Christian and still speaking hate over other women!

You can’t claim to be a Christian and dropping it like its hot on Saturday nights and sitting up in church on Sunday singing and clapping your hands; it’s out of order!

We are the representatives of Our Heavenly Father! The Alpha and the Omega! The Beginning and the End! You can’t be in/of the world and claim to be filled with the Holy Spirit!

When you seek to help others it’s not always about judgement. I am a firm believer that when you make it out of negative circumstances that you help others escape as well. Daniel 3:24-25 says this “But suddenly, Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in amazement and exclaimed to his advisors ‘Didn’t we tie up three men and throw them into the furnace?’ ‘Yes, your majesty, we surely did,’ they replied. ‘Look!’ Nebuchadnezzar shouted. ‘I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a God!” (NLT)

Our Heavenly Father doesn’t leave us to fend your ourselves; so, why would you leave your fellow sister to escape on her own?

To the women that are reading this I pray that you receive the message with love and kindness. I pray that you look within yourself and search for anything that isn’t of God and pray for its removal from your life!

God is love, he doesn’t partake in anger or strife when it comes to deliverance and forgiveness!
Our Heavenly Father wants to bless us beyond measure but we first have to receive Him in our lives and yes that will mean giving up some people, places and things!

We can’t live a sinful life willingly and actually believe that He will bless it. When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stepped out of the fiery furnace they weren’t burned, they didn’t even smell of smoke; why?

Because God was with them! They didn’t deny him, they didn’t compromise, they didn’t lower their standards; they believed and had Faith that God was with them and that He would show up and show out!

So, I pray that you accept God into your life and make a complete transformation and that He will bless you beyond measure! Pray for me as I pray for you my dear sister..Amen

Sisterhood & Empowerment: #MySister’sKeeper

I attended an event this weekend that was all about sisterhood and empowerment! While I am quiet and tend to stick to myself I had an amazing time! Many of the events I tend to frequent are with people I already know and for the most part I am comfortable around!

This wasn’t that kind of event! I knew not one person in the room personally but as the time past I realized that I knew some from social media.

As an introvert I find it hard to just get out there and network/mingle; but I realized it was time to begin to break that habit! I can’t stay within my comfort zone the rest of my life because I will never obtain and pursue all of the awesomeness God has placed within me and around me.

Now that we got that out the way; let me say this: Sisterhood can be powerful and empowering! If we only grab hold of it! So many friendships and sisterhoods have been demolished and dismantled for the most foolish reasons! I have had 2-10 year friendships end over crazy stuff that just baffled me and had me scratching my head like; what happened?

When I took the time to look back and replay certain conversations and interactions I realized that neither one of those former friends believed in me! Can you imagine if I kept them in my life if we had never parted ways? They would have deterred and detoured me! I wouldn’t have written any of my books and finally found my voice!

You see one of the things we discussed at the event was strengths and weaknesses and one of my strengths is that I’m a caring person and one of my weaknesses is that I can be naive. Just imagine me telling either one of those ladies that I felt I had to get my story out to help other women; they would’ve shot it down; why? Because they shot down less!

Ladies, we have to do better! We can’t allow ourselves to become afraid of someone else getting blessed! God will continue to bless and favor those that HE sees fit! Will you be the one to encourage, empower and motivate? Or will you be the one that will distract, beat-down and detour?

We all have a choice; what do you choose?
